The New York Section American Water Works Association (NYSAWWA) held its Annual New York Water Event in Saratoga Springs – April 9 – 11, 2024. Over 900 water professionals from around the state attended technical sessions, went head-to-head in water based competitions and many from around the state were recognized for their accomplishments.

“From the early start of his career at JWD as a laborer over 45 years ago to his current work as Superintendent, he has always exhibited a strong knowledge of the water supply sector and consummate professionalism. I’ve worked with Peter for many years on numerous projects and have seen his unwavering commitment to his work as Superintendent and to the JWD as a whole,” said William Merklin, Executive Vice President at D&B Engineers and Architects.

Peter Logan Superintendent of the Jericho Water District was presented the 2024 New York Section American Water Works Association Operator’s Meritorious Service Award. This award recognizes water operators that continuous comply with all public health standards in treated drinking water; consistent and outstanding contribution to plant maintenance; the development of new and/or modified equipment or significant process modifications to provide for more efficient and/or effective treatment; special efforts in the training of treatment plant operators; special acts not directly related to water treatment, but which demonstrate dedication to the public beyond the normal operating responsibilities; and consistent and outstanding contribution to operation and/or maintenance of distribution lines, pump stations and reservoirs.
